The Division Makes Its Way to the Tabletop as a Deeply Strategic TTRPG
The intense world of Tom Clancy’s The Division will be adapted into a tabletop role-playing experience. A collaboration has been formed to develop a tabletop RPG set within the series' apocalyptic landscape. This initiative was revealed, with a crowdfunding campaign scheduled to begin in April of 2026.
"This endeavor aims to deliver the series' unique suspense, tactical intensity, and memorable setting to the tabletop, providing fans a fresh avenue to engage with The Division through immersive storytelling and mission-based gameplay," states an announcement.
Launch products will include a beginner's box, core rulebooks, a GM screen, figurines, and several premium versions.
Exploring The Division's Dystopian World
In this universe, a deadly virus called Green Poison was released in NYC, plunging the United States into turmoil. As the crisis worsens, society crumbles and violent factions emerge, transforming the city into a battlefield. To restore law and order, the government {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of sleeper agents. That’s where the agents enter the story.
Work on the RPG has been in progress for about three years, and it is confirmed to be finished. The forthcoming crowdfunding effort will function as a pre-launch sales platform to access a wider audience, particularly in North America. Manufacturing is slated to begin immediately following the fundraiser, with deliveries projected for later in 2026.
An Innovative Gameplay Mechanic: The GRIS System
A preview at the system reveals it uses 10-sided dice predominantly through its proprietary GRIS system, encouraging a fast-paced and tactical style. Players use abilities to assemble a handful of dice, typically between one and five d10s.
- Rather than adding results together, participants choose a single “result die” from the group.
- This die is then compared against a target difficulty.
- Achieving a perfect 10 triggers special effects, such as extra damage or boosted support.
Combat Focus On Tactical Placement and Awareness
Fights prioritize positioning and situational awareness, reflecting the video games. Factors like cover, elevation, or visibility directly influence success chances. This mechanic seems built to reward teamwork and smart positioning over simple statistics.
A Novel Wound Mechanic
The way injuries is tracked introduces a compelling thematic twist. Agents have a injury limit; taking heavy hits weakens their effectiveness by decreasing the number of d10s.
- At critical condition, an agent is downed, but is not knocked out.
- They can still crawl and take limited actions, emulating the last stand seen in video game shooters.
- Any player in this state must consult a injury chart, potentially gaining persistent effects like shock or crippling injuries.
An Introductory Adventure
A publicly available Quickstart Guide will be released soon. It contains a pre-made introductory scenario called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this scenario, the group spearhead the search for a missing medical team and work to stop an attack by the violent Rikers faction, who have taken over that Manhattan district. More specifics and the full range of offerings are expected to be detailed near the Kickstarter start date.
